After a year since it was founded during the first
academic year of 2000, UPV Komsai.Org has extended its
membership to include not only the UPV student
population but also to other schools and private
individuals who also share its cause to provide a
support group to students and individuals related to IT.
The basic principle is that if an individual shares his
or her knowledge to another person, they both acquire
new knowledge and another new knowledge is formed from
the fusion of the two ideas. It would be only logical
that if the same concept, if applied to a group of
individuals, a massive amount of new ideas would be
generated, uplifting the level of consciousness of each
individual in the group. Making ourselves better
individuals, better persons to others and making a bit
of difference to life.

A: We are living in the digital age where
Computer Scientists are needed. They are the
staples of this modern era. Being a CS major
will allow you to understand the intricate
behind-the-scenes of every application/software
that we use. CS provides you a strong foundation
of knowledge, problem-solving, and logical
thinking skills towards innovation that can
potentially change the world. Career-wise, being
a CS Major gives you the capability to engage in
various fields related to computers and
technology.
A: Yes, since it relies more on the field of
information and communications technology in
which you plan to specialize in the long term.
We can’t deny that choosing an Academic track
will give you an edge since it will train your
critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity,
and collaborative skills but learning is not
limited to the four corners of your classroom.
You can always develop these skills as you
venture in the degree.
A: A minimum of four years is required to
complete a full-time study of B.S. in Computer
Science in UPV.
A: Computer Science involves a lot of critical
thinking and problem solving so Mathematics is a
vital part but you don’t have to be a
exceptionally good at Math, you just need to
have a basic understanding of the core concepts,
in which case, Discrete Mathematics and Calculus
are among the others.
A: In a face-to-face setting, no, since
computers are provided in the university's
computer laboratories. However in this online
setup, it is advised for a Computer Science
student to have his/her own laptop.
A: No, since you will be introduced to
Programming and provided with the necessary
background on your first year. This is where the
essentials and fundamentals of the course will
be taught. But, having a basic understanding of
programming will surely make the learning
process easier for you.
A: If you are new to the course, you can always
start fresh and learn new skills as you progress
through the years. Understanding of Algorithms,
Computer and Technology Knowledge and Skills,
Problem-Solving, Critical Thinking, Creativity,
and Time Management are some of the skills you
will eventually learn in this degree.
A: Yes, for most students, learning the field of
Computer Science is a tough and time-consuming
task. However, you can learn the discipline and
pursue successful careers in the fields of
Computer Science if you are willing to invest
your time and effort to learn the necessary
knowledge, values, and skills. The road may be
challenging, yet the rewards are worth reaping.
